090513_ham_484_605An Extra Day for Our 50th: Thursday, June 7 -- DUE TO OVERWHELMING RESPONSE, SOLD OUT except for museum.  See below for suggestions.

We've been offering an extra Reunion day in Cambridge and Boston on Thursday for those interested in having more time to reconnect with classmates.  The campus won’t be open to us until 1:00 pm on Friday, June 8.  Thursday  is being organized by our classmates Rachel Harris Winkeller and Pamela Starr Bromberg.  We didn't anticipate the huge response we've had, and are very sorry to have to say that the lunch and cocktail venues simply can't accomodate any more people.  We welcome anyone who can to join the museum tour, however.  There are plenty of places nearby where you could connect another classmate for lunch before the museum and tea or drinks after.   You'll receive instructions as to how to get to the Museum or you can meet up with the group  at the Grafton Streeet Pub and walk over together.  You might also enjoy going to the Glass Flowers in the morning or after the Harvard Art Museums visit.  Let us know if you have questions.  Contact info below.

The Thursday program officially begins at noon with lunch at the Grafton Street Pub in Harvard Square. Then we’ll visit the Harvard Art Museums.  The famed architect, Renzo Piano, renovated the old Fogg Art Museum,  adding a new wing to enable the unification of three museums—the Fogg, the Busch-Reisinger, and the Arthur Sackler—in one facility which opened in 2014 (www.harvardartmuseums.org). Depending on numbers, either we’ll break into small groups, led by curators and docents (some of whom are Wellesley grads), or we’ll hear some introductory remarks and explore the museum on our own.  Either way it's sure to be a treat for anyone interested in art.

There will be ample time after the museum visit to wander around Harvard Square or visit another museum.  The new Glass Flowers exhibit at the Harvard Museum of Natural History (www.hmnh.harvard.edu ), just a few blocks from the art museum, is a top pick.  Those who want to start early could visit the HMNH before lunch.

The day will be capped by a cocktail party with heavy hors d’oeuvres at a classmate’s home in Boston.

Registration ends May 25th.  If you have difficulties with registration or other questions, please contact Elllen Genat Hoffman (ellen_g_hoffman@yahoo.com), Ursula Moore Smith (ursie@comcast.net), or Jane Turner Philippi (janephil@aol.com).  Registrants will receive logistical details in May.  Final note: If you register for events online and then need to cancel any or all, we're sorry it cannot be done online.  Please contact Janet Conn, Reunion Treasurer (janetconn@comcast.net).  She'll cancel for you and make sure you get a refund.

If you're looking for a hotel room, our Thursday chairs suggest www.harvardsquare.com that has a good section on hotels.    For hotels closer to Wellesley see the College website ( www.wellesley.edu/alumnae/events/reunion/hotels).   You'll find two hotels there with group rates for Wellesley Reunion plus numerous others listed.

We hope you will join us for all or part of the day’s program!
